El Toro Pichelle was a very docile bull in La Finca el Jocote (the farm of the hogplum) in Zacatecoluca, El Salvador. Always eager to interact with humans, he used to regularly escape his corral and go to el Mercado (the market). In el Mercado, the friendly Pichelle would indulge in the vendors’ goods—produce like lettuce, mangoes, papayas, plantains, sugarcane—and drink the atol de elote (a traditional cornmeal beverage) compiling a large bill for his owner to pay.
